Weddings
Are you looking for a wedding venue that won’t cost the earth?
There is a beautiful Victorian church tucked away in Manor Road, East Molesey, which is large enough to seat all your guests but small enough to have a friendly, homely atmosphere. The ground floor has been refurbished to make it more comfortable while it retains the original gallery so some of your guests can have a wonderful view of the ceremony from above. There is a pipe organ and a grand piano to accompany your choice of hymns. The church will provide your wedding with the reverence that your special occasion deserves.
East Molesey Methodist Church welcomes people who are being married for the first time, or starting married life over again.
To find out more, please contact Revd David Innes (Minister@emmc.org.uk). He will be happy to answer any questions you may have and arrange a visit so you can look round the church.
We hope that the information below will answer some of your questions about weddings at East Molesey Methodist Church.
Your special day
We are absolutely delighted that you are interested in being married in East Molesey Methodist
Church and we are committed to helping you explore what is best for your special day. The church is
a beautiful Victorian building which can seat up to 120 people. We are very flexible in arranging the
style of service to suit you. There is a traditional pipe organ, a grand piano and facilities to play
recorded music.
Married in church
You don’t need to be church members to be married in the church. The service is a time to pray for
God’s blessing on your marriage that you might, as the service says, “Experience life-long unity of
heart, body and mind” and “know the security of love and care and grow towards maturity”. We
would hope that, if you want to be married in church, you would also want God to be central to your
marriage.
Getting started
The first step is to meet with the minister. The best way is to arrange with him to come along to one
of our Sunday morning services so that you can see the facilities. It will also help so that your
wedding isn’t the first time that that you have been to a service in the church and you can feel more
at home on that special day.
The legal bit
After you have seen the minister, you will need to visit the registry office to arrange the necessary
paperwork. This needs to be done at least 29 days before the wedding, but can be done up to a year
in advance. If you were born outside of the UK, you may need to visit the registrar at least 70 days
before the wedding. The registrar will guide you through the paperwork, but the date for the service
must be confirmed with the minister before you visit the registrar.
Preparing for marriage
Your wedding day is only the start of your marriage. To help you prepare for married life, the
minister will arrange to meet with you a few times before your special day to talk about your
married life. And remember, all of our marriages come with full lifetime warranty. If things go
wrong, we are here to help and support you through challenging times.
The costs
Fees are discussed with the minister, depending on what facilities you wish to use. Compared to the
amount that is sometimes spent on weddings, the church fees are a very small proportion of the
cost of your special day.
